"Our daughter, Elizabeth, was in a severe car accident on December 3, 2008. She was 17 years old. She suffered a traumatic brain injury among other injuries. She was hospitalized at Blank Children's Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa for four months, two of those months she was in a coma.When the staff at Blank started to talk to us about Elizabeth going to On With Life following her hospitalization, I honestly thought my daughter must be very bad off and would not have any "normal" life again, as I thought that people that went to On With Life didn't have much of a chance. I couldn't have been more wrong.
On With Life does exactly what the words say. The staff have helped Elizabeth and our family get "On With Life." From the moment I spoke with Kathy in the intake area, to the day Elizabeth was discharged, she and the rest of our family were treated with so much caring and respect. The staff totally individualized her care and rehab treatment plan for her needs and found very innovative and creative ways to motivate her to achieve and be the best she could be. All the staff including the nurses aids, the nurses, the cleaning staff, the gorunds staff, dietary staff and therapists went above and beyond what we expected. The genuinely cared about Elizabeth and our entire family. They became part of our family and we became part of the On With Life family. We will forever be grateful to On With Life. We are so blessed to have such an innovative brain injury rehab facility in Iowa. We have learned that Elizabeth and our family have a "new normal" and that is thanks to On With Life."
