On With Life is holding our second annual "Wear Your Helmet to Work" campaign!

Friday, May 19, 2017

On With Life is holding this special "Wear Your Helmet at Work" campaign this year to draw attention and raise awareness on Iowa's absent helmet law. While 22 states have helmet use laws applying to minor bicyclists and 47 have helmet use laws for motorcyclists, Iowa has neither law. As a brain injury rehabilitation provider, On With Life sees the impact of no helmet law, and we'd like to educate and encourage our lawmakers to consider passing those laws in Iowa. After all, we know helmets provide a 66 to 88% reduction in the risk of head, brain and severe brain injury for all ages of bicyclists.

How can you help? Become an Ambassador!

The On With Life "Wear Your Helmet at Work" campaign is a ONE-DAY event on Friday, May 19 (during Bike to Work Week) where we are trying to get as many people as possible to wear their helmet AT work. We are looking for individuals and companies that will pledge to wear a helmet for at least one hour while sitting at their desk, in a meeting, greeting customers, etc. To accomplish this we are looking for ambassadors. Will you join us as an ambassador for our campaign, pledging to wear your helmet at work on May 19 and helping us spread the message by encouraging others to do the same? Being an ambassador entails:

  • Commit to wear your helmet at work for at least one hour on Friday, May 19 (regardless of whether you rode your bike to work or not)
  • Share a picture of you wearing your helmet at work on social media and with friends, family and co-workers, using #HelmetsIowa
  • Encourage your family and friends to wear their helmets to and at work on May 19

To sign up to become an ambassador, register below!

If you are interested in getting your business or group involved, email A toolkit will be created for individuals and organizations that will help you promote the campaign and include statistics related to helmet use and brain injuries caused by head trauma, and a list of ambassadors will be added to our website and social media sites.
