Wear Your Helmet at Work

SAVE THE DATE: Thursday, August 16

This August, join On With Life for the third annual Wear Your Helmet at Work event! Iowa is one of only three states that does not have any laws related to helmet usage. To raise awareness of the need for helmet laws in Iowa, we are trying to get as many individuals and organizations to wear their helmets at work for one hour on Thursday, August 16. On With Life understands the need for helmet laws, which is why we'd like to encourage our lawmakers to pass helmet regulations in Iowa.

How can you help?

There are many ways to get involved with our campaign this year, including:

  • Become an ambassador and pledging to wear your helmet at work for one hour on August 16.

  • Encourage your business or organization to sign up as ambassadors as well

  • Share pictures of you and your team wearing helmets on August 16 on social media with the hashtag #HelmetsIowa

  • Spread the word to your personal network and recruiting others to participate

  • Cheer us on at the Ankeny Summerfest on July 14 and the Iowa State Fair parade on August 8

  • Stop by the Iowa State Fair Farm Bureau Park tent on August 16 and grabbing a free helmet

  • Local to Des Moines? Order the "Don't Be Pigheaded: Wear a Helmet" pizza at Fong's Pizza during the month of August! Proceeds from this custom pizza will be donated to the On With Life Foundation. Follow us on Facebook for more information.

To see pictures from previous year's event, click here. We had many great organizations participate in 2017, including Principal, The Iowa Clinic, Mercy Medical Center and EMC Insurance. This year, we would love for your organization to join us this year on the ever-growing list of ambassadors! Please fill out the form below if you are interested. We'll be collecting a list of ambassadors and posting them on our website and social media sites. Additionally, a toolkit will be distributed to ambassadors including statistics related to helmet use and brain injuries caused by head trauma to accompany social media posts.

Thank you for helping us advocate for helmet laws in Iowa!
