On With Life Named Finalist For The Des Moines Register's Aurora Award - May 26, 2013

On With Life has been named a finalist for the Des Moines Register’s 11th annual Aurora award, which recognizes nonprofit organizations that have identified a need within the community and have worked to fill it.

“The Aurora awards link The Des Moines Register’s vision of building a better quality of life in Iowa with individuals and organizations that are honoring that vision,” said Kurt Allen, the Register’s chief marketing and strategy officer. “It’s the collective efforts of all of these individuals and organizations that make this year’s nominees so compelling, for their outstanding contributions to Iowa’s communities.”

On With Life was nominated for the award by Heather DeJoode, a person served by On With Life and Judy Bradshaw, Des Moines Chief of Police.

“I see examples of the extraordinary work that our team does every day at On With Life and I’m excited to know that this work continues to be recognized outside of our walls,” said Julie Dixon, M.S., CRC, CCM, executive director at On With Life. “I’m honored to work alongside some of the best brain injury specialists in the United States and proud to know that our persons served feel the same way.”

An independent panel of judges selected this year’s finalists. Other finalists for the Aurora award include Cottage Grove Avenue Presbyterian Church, Broadlawns Medical Center and the Young Women’s Resource Center.

Congratulations to the Aurora Award Winner: Central Iowa Shelter and Services, an organization that provides free shelter and meals to homeless adults.
