On With Life's Outpatient Neuro Rehabilitation program will be hosting an education and free screening with advanced technology for foot drop and hand dysfunction for people living with Stroke, MS, Brain Injury or Spinal Cord Injury. In cooperation with Bioness, On With Life will offer wireless technologies to help those affected regain independence and get back into a more active lifestyle.
The L300 Foot Drop System is a wireless device that senses a patient's foot position and automatically adjusts to changes in walking speed and surfaces. This device produces an electrical current to activate and contract specific muscle and to stimulate the appropriate nerves to override natural electrical brain signals. The H200 Wireless Hand Rehabilitation System focuses on helping patients regain the skills for reaching, grasping, opening and closing of the hand and supports the wrist in a functional position. With the H200, there is a low level functional electrical stimulation to activate neural control of the muscles in the hand and forearm that helps re-educate muscles, reduce spasms, increase blood circulation, decrease atrophy, and increase function. Treatment will be on an individual basis for each participant in the program after an initial evaluation is completed. The programs are based on the persons served needs and appropriateness.
