Ankeny, IA – On With Life has been selected as a Legacy Grant recipient by Prairie Meadows.

Through the grant, On With Life will be awarded $400,000 over three years to support the construction of a new Outpatient Neuro Rehabilitation Center. The Outpatient Center is the first phase of the Life Forward Capital Campaign project at On With Life.

“On With Life is constantly striving to improve services and meet the needs of the people we are privileged to serve and we have been asked by families for many years to develop an outpatient program,” said Julie Fidler Dixon, executive director at On With Life. “In 2010, a provisional program was established to assess the outpatient need and we have received an overwhelming response.”

The new Outpatient Center will be open to the community and will include a practice apartment, a Dynavision room used for vision and vestibular therapy, a specialty therapy gym and a family conference center where persons served, family members and therapists can gather to make ongoing plans for future progress.

“Every day we are proud to live our mission of passionately serving and advocating for those living with brain injury,” said Dixon. “It is a great feeling when others see the importance in our mission and we are thrilled that Prairie Meadows has given us such a great start to our fundraising efforts.”

The Life Forward Capital Campaign aims to increase and improve access to services and enhance the therapeutic property at On With Life. In addition to the Outpatient Center, areas of the project include an on-site aquatic therapy pool, additional inpatient beds, a wellness center and property enhancements that will make facilities more efficient and environmentally friendly.

Each year Prairie Meadows supports a limited number of large-scale, signature projects in the central Iowa area through their Legacy Grant Program. Prairie Meadows has given more than $1 billion through taxes, grants and charitable donations to the state of Iowa. More than $500 million of that figure has remained within our community to promote economic development, agriculture, jobs and tourism.

Other top Legacy Grant recipients include Amanda Cares, Ankeny Community Foundation, Drake University, Grand View University and the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden.

On With Life plans to break ground on the early phases of this project in 2014. To learn about ways in which you can support the Life Forward Capital Campaign, please visit the Make a Donation page or contact the Foundation at 515-289-9611 or at
