Birdies for Charity Now Open - March 9, 2015

Birdies for Charity

Community spirit is the driving force on the links at The Principal Charity Classic, and Central Iowans have a great opportunity to benefit area non-profits, including On With Life, by raising additional funds through Birdies for Charity. On With Life will receive 100% of EVERY DONATION collected on our behalf and have the potential to raise extra money through the Matching Funds program.

What is Birdies for Charity?

Birdies for Charity is a fundraising program designed to give participants an opportunity to generate contributions based on the number of "birdies" made by Champions Tour players during The Principal Charity Classic (June 5-7).

Every birdie made during the Principal Charity Classic means bucks for charity! Charities receive 100% of every donation collected and receive a 10% match for reaching $1,000 in pledges.

How to Pledge

A per-birdie amount for every birdie made by the Champions Tour players during the three-day Principal Charity Classic, or a one-time flat donation.

Minimum per-birdie $.05
Minimum flat donation $25
Birdies made in 2008 721
Birdies made in 2009 787
Birdies made in 2010 795
Birdies made in 2011 879
Birdies made in 2012 790
Birdies made in 2013 707

Birdies made in 2014 843

For example, a pledge of $.05 per birdie: $.05 x 843 birdies in 2014 =$42.15

What is a Birdie? A "birdie" is a score of one stroke better than "par" for any golf hole on the course. "Par" is the normal expected score of a golf professional on any given hole. For example, on a par 4 hole, a score of 3 is a birdie.

What is the Matching Funds program?

If On With Life reaches $1,000 in total money collected, it will be eligible for the Matching Funds program. Charities eligible to receive Matching Funds will receive an additional $.10 for every $1.00 collected, up to $100,000 in collected pledges. Matching funds are sponsored and provided by Sammons Financial Group.
