On With Life Long-Term Employee Receives Honor - July 25, 2014

Glenwood, Iowa – Jeffrey Martin, registered nurse  at On With Life's Long-Term Skilled Care in Glenwood, has been named as an Iowa Health Care Association (IHCA) Foundation scholarship recipient. IHCA Executive Director Steve Ackerson presented Martin with the Foundation’s $1,000 IHCA Memorial Scholarship for his outstanding commitment to long-term care and the residents he serves in On With Life’s Long-Term Skilled Care program.

Martin has worked in long-term care for more than eighteen years, he is constantly furthering his education and most recently he was designated as a certified brain injury specialist. He plans on attending Nebraska Wesleyan University where he will work toward his master’s degree.

“Master’s level education will better prepare me to continue the development of my learning and teaching strategies and techniques,” said Martin in his nomination essay. “I feel that this program will facilitate my growth and development as the best, compassionate, patient-centered nurse possible.

Dick Achenbach, On With Life Extended Care administrator, speaks very highly of Martin’s attention to detail. “He works well with our residents and provides nothing but quality nursing care and attention,” Achenbach said. “Jeff has always gone over and beyond to work with the families and answered their questions and concerns.”

Martin’s long-term career goals are to attain his master’s degree and become an administrator.

The Iowa Health Care Association Foundation is supported by the 807 members of the Iowa Health Care Association and the Iowa Center for Assisted Living, which includes Iowa’s nursing facilities, assisted living communities, residential care facilities, home health agencies and long term care associated businesses.
