Welcome to On With Life!
We are thrilled you will be joining our team to help us serve individuals living with brain injury and their families. On With Life is a special organization which is centered on our mission to join hands, hearts and minds to help persons living with brain injury get "On With Life". We pledge to do whatever we can to make your career a rewarding, challenging and memorable one. This page is meant to help you become familiar with On With Life and guide you through our hiring process.

Prior to Employment

Physical/Drug Screen

Your HR Specialist will assist in scheduling your appointment. There is no charge to you for the physical or drug screen. The HR Specialist will coordinate this with you prior to your first day.

TB Screening

We require a two-step TB screening. The first step can be administered by the OWL nursing department. If you have had a TB skin test within the past year or chest x-ray for screening, please provide this to your HR Specialist.The HR Specialist will coordinate this with you prior to your first day.

Brain Injury Packet

View the On With Life Brain Injury Packet, a grouping of various documents that are available to give you a broad understanding of brain injury and the individuals we serve. It is not required but we encourage you to review this packet prior to your start date.

Educational Videos

We require that you watch the following three videos prior to your start. You must complete the corresponding quiz after viewing each video. We will be notified when this is complete and you will be compensated for your time once we receive your results.

Your First Day at On With Life

You will meet with your HR Specialist on your first day to complete your hiring paperwork. Please be prepared to bring the following documentation:

  • Two forms of identification – Click here for a list of acceptable documents 
  • Bank account information to set up direct deposit
  • Professional licensure, if you will be holding a licensed position
  • CPR certification if available
  • Iowa Mandatory Reporter Certification if available
  • Record of TB screening within the past year if not completed at On With Life

Our History – On With Life’s history began with the dream of a dedicated, passionate group of survivors and their families, faced with the challenge of rebuilding lives shattered by brain injury. 

Our Foundation – The On With Life Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, was established in 1992 to ensure that each person served has the equipment, services, and environment necessary to maximize their rehabilitation potential.

Our Programs – Our goal at On With Life is to exceed the expectations of persons served and their families. We believe our extensive rehabilitation services, combined with specialized expertise in brain injury rehabilitation, offer individuals the optimal opportunity to achieve their goals. 

Outcomes – As a CARF accredited organization and as leaders in the brain injury rehabilitation field, On With Life tracks and measures several outcomes throughout the rehabilitation process to assess the progress of the people we serve. 

Locations – On With Life has two main campus locations, one in Ankeny, Iowa and one in Glenwood, Iowa. On With Life considers it a privilege to call both of these locations home.

Headway – Headway Magazine is published twice a year by On With Life. This publication highlights our programs, staff, upcoming events, persons served and what’s new in brain injury rehabilitation.
