On With Life Celebrates 30 Years
30 years ago, the dream of On With Life’s eight founding families became a reality. After years of overcoming challenges to create a rehabilitation center for persons with brain injuries, the group officially opened the doors of On With Life’s Ankeny campus on August 12, 1991.
30 years later On With Life looks a little different. Since opening in 1991 we have expanded our programs to include long-term care, outpatient services, supported community living and a Residential Neuro Rehabilitation home. We have grown across the state of Iowa with our long-term care facility finding a home in Glenwood and our outpatient programming expanding to Coralville. We have added several innovation centers and additional programming such as Parkinson’s Disease, concussion, telehealth and a post-COVID clinic to better serve our community.
But despite looking different, 30 years later On With Life feels the same. Our mission remains strong and in the forefront of our minds. We continue to always put our persons served first and involve their families in any way that we can. We are always looking for ways to challenge ourselves and raise the bar. We continue to be inspired by our persons served and the amazing stories that come out of our organization.
As we celebrate our 30th anniversary, we are just as proud of our organization now as those eight founding families were back on August 12, 1991. Thank you to all those who have helped us to get to where we are today – staff, donors, persons served, families and our community. Here’s to another 30 years of helping those we serve move ‘on with life’!
