Support from Hubbell, Prairie Meadows, and Polk County Make Family Home “Extreme Build” a Reality

For one full week in September, Hubbell Realty Company and their partners donated hundreds of hours of their time to build two new family homes at the On With Life Ankeny campus. The new “Homes of Hope” will provide persons served, their families and caretakers a place to stay – free of charge – during rehabilitation.

In addition to Hubbell’s generous support, the project was awarded a $250,000 grant from Prairie Meadows, and $100,000 from Polk County.

“This project wouldn’t have been possible without the help of these amazing organizations, we’re so grateful for them, and for the positive impact these homes will have on our persons served. We know, without a doubt, that family support during what is often one of the most difficult times in someone’s life – makes an enormous difference, and leads to better outcomes,” said Jean Shelton, On With Life CEO.

With a $2.1 million project budget, 60% was donated with in-kind labor and materials, and the remaining amount was cash raised via On With Life supporters – including Prairie Meadows and Polk County.

“The culture and importance of philanthropy shine through in all of these companies, and with our generous donors.  We’re extremely grateful to live in a community that prioritizes enhancing the accessibility and quality of healthcare in Iowa,” Sara Wilson, On With Life Development Director.
