Make a Donation in Honor of Matt
Dave Cowman and John Flaugh are co-sponsoring an effort to honor their friend, classmate and teammate, Matt Hanke, by supporting On With Life, a place that has meant so much to him and his family. Their goal is to raise $50,000 to name a family conference room in honor of Matt. The Hanke family has always appreciated the support of staff, and this room will offer a wonderful collaboration space for families served by On With Life.

“Matt was the first person served at On With Life. We chose On With Life for the programs they were establishing and the fact that we could continue to see Matt on a daily basis and bring him home for day visits on the weekends.
The staff at On With Life made efforts to determine the best ways to communicate with Matt, as well as providing family support groups and family education presentations for us. They determined that group activities worked best for Matt. He especially enjoyed competition. They involved him in community activities, including attending Ankeny High School, and they bussed him to another facility for swimming. This helped his range of motion, and he loved being in the pool.
The On With Life staff was extremely helpful in determining a long-term facility prior to his discharge. After Matt’s discharge, we were still able to reach out to the staff about concerns and his progress.
We will always be thankful that Matt was able to continue his journey at On With Life.”
