Counseling Services Added in Coralville

On With Life is excited to announce the addition of clinical counseling services to our outpatient program in Coralville. Dr. Tawny Chamberlain will be providing clinical counseling services to individuals who have had brain injury, stroke, Parkinson’s, concussion or other neurological condition as well as their family members.

Tawny obtained her Ph. D from the University of Iowa in Counselor Education & Supervision with an emphasis in Rehabilitation Counseling in 2018. She also obtained a Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from St. Cloud State in Minnesota and completed her bachelor’s degree at the University of Minnesota: Twin Cities. She is a licensed mental health counselor through the state of Iowa and is a nationally certified counselor.

Tawny’s education, background, and training include individual and group counseling to adolescents and adults and a wide variety of populations while utilizing a Cognitive Behavioral approach. Throughout her Ph. D and Master’s training, Tawny’s clinical work and research focused on working with individuals with disabilities, adjustment, and coping. The knowledge gained from these experiences led to an increased interest in working with individuals, caretakers, and families that have sustained a traumatic brain injury and/or other neurological disorders. After working in private practice, Tawny wanted to focus on incorporating her rehabilitation background and mental health expertise to work at On With Life.

Tawny is currently an adjunct lecturer at The University of Iowa in the Rehabilitation Counseling & Education department. Her research interest include disability policy issues, outcome research, adjustment processes, and quality of life for individuals with disabilities.
