Hubbell Realty Company + Confluence Brewing Confluence Brewing, a craft beer brewery in Des Moines, started their local cause program in 2019, inspired by a similar project Sierra Nevada started to aid those impacted by wildfires spreading across northern California. Since then, Confluence supports local organizations by partnering with a corporate sponsor so that all net proceeds from the limited-edition local cause beers can be donated back to the nonprofit of choice. In 2023, that organization was On With Life. “Community plus awareness equals purpose,” said Confluence owner, John Martin. “We love our community and wanted to bring more awareness to On With Life. Everyone deserves to be seen.” This collaboration spurred from the upcoming Hubbell Extreme Build project that will take place on On With Life's campus this fall. A couple of Hubbell employees who consider themselves "beer enthusiasts" were aware of Confluence’s local cause program and brought it to the table as a possible way to support the project. “Teaming up with our Hubbell Extreme Build recipient, On With Life, made complete sense so we could raise awareness for the organization’s mission and goals to build the family homes in 2024,” said Claire Brehmer, spokeswoman for Hubbell. With Hubbell participating as the corporate sponsor, Confluence moved forward with creating the Extreme Strides beer, a blonde ale featuring hints of blueberries and green tea, two ingredients believed to promote brain function and health. This delicious combination was a success and between Confluence and Hubbell, $20,000 was raised to donate back to On With Life. “This collaboration was fun, purposeful and tasty!” said Claire. Back
