Kuhns Family Holiday Concert

The Kuhns Family

In 2019, Jermayne (JT) Kuhns spent his first holiday season at On With Life's Long-Term Skilled Care program in Glenwood. His parents and several of his siblings came to visit and as part of their family
get together, began to sing Christmas carols in JT’s room.

As they sang, they noticed other persons served seemed to enjoy the music coming from the room. The family decided to take their caroling to the hallways so they could spread their holiday cheer to others.

“There was no planning that went into that initial caroling event,” said JT’s mother, Char. “It was very spontaneous.”

That spontaneous moment has now turned into an annual holiday tradition. Every year JT’s family comes to On With Life to perform Christmas carols for persons served as part of their holiday celebration, with JT right by their side. It has become something that both On With Life and the Kuhns family looks forward to every year.

“We love seeing the smiles and excitement on persons served faces as they get into the music,” said Char. “It’s such a beautiful time to be an encouragement for both the persons served and staff.”

The family found On With Life when they needed it most, and were extremely grateful when their son was accepted into the long-term program. On With Life has since become an important part of their family and while they visit often, this holiday event continues to be one of their favorites.
