This year's event will feature lunch, games, tours, activities, and live music from Steve Arvey.
Steve Arvey is a Florida-based blues musician who has performed nationally and internationally with a number of renowned musicians. He has appeared at the Chicago Blues Fest both with his band and solo ten times and found acclaim in the U.K. and Australia with his 2001 album Fine Line. In 2005, he was signed to Warner International and performed at the Byron Bay Blues and Roots Festival, where he appeared on the compilation CD from that festival, which included tracks from Dave Matthews, REM, Jack Johnson and other notable artists. Currently, Steve performs with The Delta Swamp Rats, a group he formed in 2012 that features the Cigar Box Guitar and has risen his popularity in the Americana scene.
Following his stroke in April 2024, Steve used music as a key part of his recovery, gradually rebuilding strength, coordination, and dexterity through daily guitar practice and performance. Today, he continues to tour internationally, proving that determination and the healing power of music can make an incredible difference.
During his visit, Steve will perform live and discuss how music can stimulate the brain, encourage neuroplasticity, and play a meaningful role in recovery for stroke survivors and others facing neurological challenges. His presentation combines personal experience, hope, and live music to inspire patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare professionals alike. Steve’s story is one of resilience, perseverance, and the remarkable connection between music and healing. His journey demonstrates that recovery is possible and that creativity can become a powerful tool in rebuilding both the mind and spirit.
